Overview

On this tour, you visit Kibale Forest and Queen Elizabeth National Parks. Kibale covers an area of over 795sq.km rich in biodiversity with 351tree species, 13primate species and 300bird species plus many more flora and fauna. Queen Elizabeth on the other hand is seated on over 1978sq.km with a rich ecosystem blend having lakes, wetlands, savanna and humid forests among others. Its home to over 600 bird species and resident chimps found in Kyambura.

Day 01: Depart Kampala /Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park

Day 02: Primate tracking and birdwatch

Day 03: Birdwatching in Bigodi sanctuary & head to Queen

Day 04: Launch trip & game drive-birds

Day 05: Chimps in Kyambura and back to Kampala/Entebbe

Details

Day 01: Departure from Kampala to Kibale N.P -About 6 hours driving time

Have breakfast, briefing about your tour and transfer with the driver guide westwards to Fort Portal. Lunch here and later proceed to the park arriving in the late afternoon /evening check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge(luxury) or Chimpanzee Forest lodge(mid-range) or Primate lodge(basic), full board(FB)

Day 02: Primate tracking and birdwatching

Have breakfast at the lodge, proceed for registration at Kanyancu to start tracking in the forest. The activity commences at 0800hrs lasting about 3hrs, lookout for the chimpanzees and other primates including the L’Hoest, black and white, Red tailed and Blue monkeys among others. Have lunch at the lodge in the afternoon relax a little in the evening lookout for the 372bird species present in the park. Overnight at the lodge, full board (FB).

Day 03: Birdwatching in Bigodi and head to Queen

Breakfast early enough and transfer to Bigodi wildlife sanctuary for a 3hrs guided walk in search of birds and primates that dwell in the wetland. Lookout for the Great blue and Ross’ turaco, Hornbills, Kingfishers and other swamp endemics plus the 8-primate species. Lunch in the afternoon and later proceed to Queen Elizabeth -about 3hrs driving time. Dinner and overnight at Jacana /Kyambura Game lodge(luxury) or Kingfisher (mid-range) or Simba safari camp(basic). Full board(FB)

Day 04: Birds on a launch trip and game drive

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge proceed for a morning launch trip for an interesting display of birdlife especially the water birds an also spotting other wildlife like school of hippos. Lunch I the afternoon at the lodge and later proceed for a game drive in the park in search of the many species no limited to Striking Rwenzori turaco, Martial Eagle, and African crake. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Full board

Day 05: Chimps and birds in Kyambura, later return to Kampala -about 7hours driving time

Today after breakfast, check-out proceed to Kyambura wildlife reserve for a chimps and bird search. Lookout for the resident chimps in Kyambura Gorge later proceed to eastwards to the reserve to find the interesting birds such as the greater and lesser flamingos, great egrets and many more. Drive back to Kampala or Entebbe airport. Lunch will be en-route.
